Episode Summaries

"Crunch the Rockdog"
**Special thanks to Bridget for writing this summary.

In the opening scene, Paradise is reading a story out loud to the other ponies. At the end of the story, the pony hero must leave his one true love. While all of the other ponies are saddened at this unhappy ending, Wind Whistler wonders why the pony would begin his journey at sunset, which is illogical. The other ponies make fun of her being logical and accuse her of having no emotions. Gusty even tells her, “Too bad you weren’t around when the feelings fairy gave out feelings,” causing the other ponies to laugh. Wind Whistler says, “But I do have feelings!” while Megan and Danny point out to the other ponies that Wind Whistler’s feelings are hurt.  Meanwhile, the Bushwoolies are fleeing from Crunch the Rockdog, a terrible beast who hates soft, cuddly things. Most of the Bushwoolies escape from Crunch and his minions, other evil rock creatures. The Bushwoolies run into Megan, Danny, and Wind Whistler, and tell them that Crunch turned some of their friends to stone. The ponies set off to ask the Moochick for his help. At first, the Moochick tells them that he doesn’t know anything about Crunch. When they mention that he is from the Purple Mountains, the.Moochick directs them to go there and speak with “His Elevated Eminence.”  On their way there, they run into Crunch and his minions, and witness two more Bushwoolies being turned into stone. While they are running away, Gusty has a plan. She tells the others to go on without her, and tries to make a small dust storm with her unicorn magic, in the hopes that she can slow the rock creatures down. Unfortunately the dust storm has no effect on rocks, and poor Gusty is turned into stone. Buttons confuses the rock creatures by winking in and out while the others run away to safety.  The ponies locate His Eminence, who is a living, talking mountain. He tells the ponies that he created Crunch to protect the Heart Stone, a powerful source which gives him his feelings. His Eminence forgot to give a heart to Crunch, making him mean and terrible. He instructs Megan and the ponies to go deep within him and find the heart stone in order to defeat crunch. They manage to obtain the Heart Stone, but the mountain starts to collapse around them when they do. His Eminence grows mean and restless in the absence of the Heart Stone as Crunch approaches them.  Wind Whistler pretends to have no feelings by saying she doesn’t care if Crunch turns Truly into stone. But when he does this, she sheds a tear, causing Crunch to realize that she really does care. To prove she has no feelings, Wind Whistler offers Megan as Crunch’s next victim. Megan realizes what is really going on and as Wind Whistler flies her high enough to reach Crunch, she uses the power of the Heart Stone against him. The Heart Stone makes Crunch shrink into a harmless, disgruntled pup. The ponies and Bushwoolies who were turned to stone return to their normal form, and Megan puts a little piece of the Heart Stone in Crunch’s collar. The Heart Stone’s goodness makes Crunch friendly, and the ponies return it to His Eminence, who is also put in a better mood. His Eminence thanks the ponies for all they have done and they return to Dream Valley. The ponies apologize to Wind Whistler for thinking she didn’t have feelings, and everyone is happy and safe again.

"I Hate Soft" (part 1)

Crunch:
I hate soft...anything that's soft and squishes
Leaves me feeling mean and vicious
I hate soft! I hate soft!
I hate nice...puffy clouds and fluffy pillows
Sleeping lambs and weeping willows
Make me mad! Nice is bad!
I hate sweet and cuddly things
Anything that's gentle
Don't give me no hearts and flowers
I'm not sentimental!
I hate soft
So don't get in my way...
Cause if you do...
I will make life hard for you!

"It's Wonderful To Have a Heart" (part 2)

Megan:
It's wonderful to have a heart
It's wonderful when feelings start
And the feelings in your heart are the kind you want to share
Discovering you have a heart
Makes the gloom in your soul depart
You smile up at the sun
For a new life has begun
It's wonderful to have a heart!
All:
Discovering you have a heart
Makes the gloom in your soul depart
Megan:
You smile up at the sun
For a new life has begun!
All:
It's wonderful to have a heart!

"The Magic Coins" Four Parts
**Special thanks to Bridget for writing this summary.

While Megan, Danny, and Molly are visiting the My Little Ponies, the sea ponies find a chest underwater filled with gold coins.  The ponies are playing volleyball with one of Fizzy’s bubbles, when Sweet Stuff trips and knocks over the chest, spilling all the coins.  After the bubble pops, Fizzy wishes that she could make bigger, stronger bubbles.  To the ponies surprise and delight, her wish comes true!  Things get a little complicated when Molly gets trapped in one of the bubbles and begins to float high into the air.  Thinking quickly, Windwhistler flies up and pops the bubble and Molly tumbles out of the sky for a safe landing in the water.
While standing on one of the coins, Baby Lickety Split wishes that the picnic basket was filled with treats.  Her wish comes true too, which causes the ponies to realize that the coins are magic and fulfill wishes.  It begins to rain, and in the confusion of the ruined picnic, Baby Lickety Split wishes that it would never rain again.  Soon everything in Pony Land begins to shrivel up.  The water evaporates, the trees and grass die, and all of the flowers in Posey’s garden wither away.  The ponies, specifically Heart Throb have been spending the coins on wishes.  Some of their wishes seem harmless, but it becomes clear that there are more bad consequences than good.  Windwhistler realizes that the coins have unpredictable bad effects, and the three remaining coins are kept safe.
The ponies set off to see the Moochick.  On the way, they meet the baby sea ponies, who have run out of water.  The group splits up: Danny and Molly and some of the ponies go off to find water, with the baby sea ponies in their arms and Megan and the remaining ponies continue on their course to the Mushromp.  The Moochick reveals that the coins come from the collection of Niblet the troll, and that only he can undo the wishes.  The ponies thank him and set off to find him.  It is a long journey through dry, desert-like conditions.  Water is running low and the ponies are exhausted.  Megan reminds them that they have to keep going, for the baby sea ponies and all of Pony Land.
They come across a short, friendly fellow named Puck who shows them the way to Niblet’s house.  Furious that the ponies foolishly spent his treasure, Niblet lets down the drawbridge leaving the ponies dangling in mid-air.  They promise to bring him something of greater value than the coins if he lets them go and undoes the wishes.  Niblet agrees and they split into three groups to find worthy treasures for Niblet.
Magic Star, Spike, and Heart Throb spot a beautiful golden rose in the middle of a hedge maze.  As soon as they reach the flower, Spike picks it up, causing the topiaries to come to life and chase them.  They escape to Niblet’s house, where he hates the flower and is even allergic to it.  Meanwhile, Gingerbread, Galaxy, and Puck have their eyes set on an emerald idol.  The idol is guarded by traps, which Gingerbread and Puck set off.  After the idol is carefully removed, the ceiling collapses and Gingerbread escapes in the nick of time.  Niblet is unimpressed with the idol because Puck cracked it, and the ponies sigh in despair.  Fizzy, Windwhistler, and Megan manage to obtain the “heart of gold,” a ruby in the middle of an open volcano.  After all the danger they put themselves in to get the ruby, Niblet shows them a box full of rubies just like it.
Defeated, the ponies turn back.  Windwhistler and Megan reach Dream Valley, where they see that the sea ponies are worse and a fire has broken out.  Fearing the end for the ponies, Megan gets a desperate idea.  She asks Whizzer, the fastest Pegasus, to take her back to Niblet’s house.  She uses the last coin to make a wish for Niblet to have a friend.  Another troll appears, and Niblet loves his new friend.  He thanks Megan and the ponies and gladly undoes the spell.  Soon it begins to rain; the sea ponies get better and the grass and trees grow back.  The ponies are saved because they gave Niblet the best treasure of all: friendship.

Posey:
Oh, for a rainy day;
A day with cloudy skies
How I long for one day without the sun glaring in my eyes!
Cherries Jubilee:
Give me a rainy day with puddles everywhere
Now it's parched and warm
Wish I felt a storm stirring in the air!
Ribbon:
Endless blue skies get so boring!
Lofty:
Oh, don't you wish it was pouring?
Megan:
Oh, for a rainy day!

Spike:
Sun, sun, go away!
All:
Let this be a rainy day!

"Let a Song Carry You Along"  (part 2)

Megan:
When the road ahead looks bleak
Let a song carry you along!
When you can't find the answer you seek
Let a song carry you along!
When you feel about to drop
Stop and whistle a tune
Soon you'll be on top of the world
And the world will be your balloon!
Music lifts your spirits and keeps you going strong
So when everything seems to go wrong
Let a song carry you along!
Music lifts your spirits and keeps you going strong
So when everything seems to go wrong
Let a song carry you along!

Heart Throb:

Spike:
Maybe we should just call it a day...
And give the guy a fireworks display!
Megan:
What do you give to a troll?
I think it's very clear
Whatever you give to a troll
The answer isn't here!
All:
Whatever you give to a troll
The answer isn't here!

Niblic and other troll:
Of all treasures, what do we choose?
All:
Friends!
Niblic and other troll:
Friends!
All:
Lifting spirits up to the sky
Friends!  Friends!  Friends!
Baby Sea Ponies:

"The Return of Tambelon" Four Parts
***
Special thanks to Bridget Henry for writing this summary.

In the opening scene, Danny, Molly, and the ponies are happily playing hide-and-go-seek. Even though winking out is against the rules, Baby Ribbon (unicorns have special powers) does so and disappears. Ribbon winks out to bring her back, but she disappears too. The ponies go off to find Megan. She tells the ponies not to jump to conclusions, but Galaxy, worried, winks out. When she doesn’t return, Megan tells the ponies that until the others are found no more unicorns should wink out. Megan, Molly, Danny, and the ponies go around looking for the remaining unicorns. But it is too late; one by one, the unicorns wink out and disappear.
That night, Megan has a nightmare about a dark, gray place. She sees an evil looking ram with beady red eyes. Ribbon is also in the dream, and she says a strange word: Tambelon. Convinced that Ribbon was trying to reach her telepathically, Megan wakes up and tells the other ponies.  Paradise remembers a legend about the lost city of Tambelon. According to the legend, Tambelon is in a realm of darkness, in between one place and another. It last appeared 500 years ago, and its ruler, Grogar, tried to conquer Pony Land. Paradise suggests that maybe the unicorns got stuck in Tambelon in between winking out and winking in.
Just then, the city of Tambelon appears out of the sky. Grogar, the evil ram from Megan’s dream, and his follower, Brain, capture most of the ponies.  Grogar’s minions, the troggles, occupy Dream Valley while Grogar returns to his dreary city. He orders Brain to capture the rest of the ponies and Megan. Meanwhile, the remaining flutter ponies, bushwoolies, ponies, and grundles are making a plan to free their friends and save Pony Land. Megan and Lofty fly into the city undetected where they run into Magic Star, Heart Throb, and Galaxy. The three escaped from their prison by pushing against a lose brick in the wall. While they were exploring they discovered an enormous old bell in a tower, which Galaxy is convinced is important.
Realizing they don’t have a lot of time, they go back to the prison with Megan and Lofty to help the other captives escape. Just as the ponies are reaching the gate, Grogar and his minions arrive and the ponies are recaptured. Peach Blossom sees everything from behind the gate and flies off to warn Danny, Molly, and the remaining ponies. Peach Blossom tells them that she noticed the bell around Grogar’s neck glowed when he used his powers. Wind Whistler hypothesizes that the bell could be the source of his magic, and Danny and Molly resolve to remove it.  They formulate a plan involving Danny’s tape recorder, left behind in the captured Paradise Estate. Danny and Crumpet succeed in retrieving it and Danny records Brain ordering the troggles around. He and Molly edit the recording and Masquerade disguises herself as Brain to lure Grogar. When Grogar appears, Danny plays the recording, which now says, “Grogar, this isyour last chance to capture the ponies!” Grogar falls for it and is surrounded by the ponies, with Spike trying to grab the bell. Enraged, Grogar kicks and charges until he is free, taking Forget Me Not and Paradise with him.  Their numbers dwindling, Danny and the ponies capture a troggle named Drog, and enlist his help. He tells them he is on their side and warns them that Grogar plans to exile the captured ponies to the realm of darkness at midnight. Drog helps them break into Tambelon to rescue the prisoners, but they are caught by Grogar, who was waiting for them. At first they think that Drog led them into a trap, but soon enough he is thrown into prison with them for betraying Grogar. The captives try to discover a way to escape, while Galaxy keeps mentioning that she suspects the old bell is important. With the help of Fizzy, Buttons, and Forget Me Not, a crack in the ceiling is made big enough for Megan and Northstar to escape. Megan frees everyone and the ponies and troggles unite to overthrow Grogar.  Suddenly, Paradise realizes that they have to ring the bell Galaxy found.  Everyone is singing “Let the bell of freedom ring” to cheer on Megan and Northstar, flying up towards the bell tower. The bell rings loud and clear and Grogar and Tambelon disappear. The troggles are left to stay in Pony Land, free from Grogar’s reign, and the ponies are free to return to their home in Dream Valley.

"Where Have the Unicorns Gone?"  (part 1)

Megan:
Where have the unicorns gone?
Where are those magical creatures now?
Once upon a time they frolicked near
What could have made them disappear?
Rosedust:
I keep looking high and low
They're nowhere in the neighborhood
I search every corner that I know
I can't believe they've gone for good
Megan:
Don't say they've taken their final bow
I still need a dream to dream upon
Tell me where have the unicorns gone
All:
Oh, where have the unicorns gone?

(part 2) No Major Songs

"Escape!"  (part 3)

Bushwoolies:
Escape! Escape! We got to escape!
If only we could squeeze through and alter our shape
Escape! Escape! we got to get out
To lead us to our friends from the awful place!
Grundle King:
We've got to make a break
I had all I can take
I need some breathing space!

Gingerbread and Sweet Stuff:
Escape! Escape! We're locked up inside
And we can't get free
Though we tried and we tried!

Bushwoolies:
However did we do it?
Somehow we went and blew it
And wound up in a scrape!

Megan:

There's nothing more to say
All that's left to do is pray that someday, someday...

All:

Someday, we'll escape! Escape! We got to escape!
We will escape! Escape! We got to escape!

Grundle King:

Let me out of here!

All:

Escape!
Bushwoolie:
We got to get out of here!

"Let the Bell of Freedom Ring" (part 4)

Ponies:

Ring out the old! Ring in the new!
Time for a major operation's due
Soon enough we all must sing
Let the bell on freedom ring!
Ring out the news; Speak loud and clear!
Come on, the day of liberation  is here
Soon these changes will take wing
Let the bell of freedom ring!

Megan:
Somehow I can't help but feel
Any second now that bell will peel!

Ponies:
There goes the bell; We won the fight
Sing out the song of victory tonight!
All the joy our thought will bring
Let the bell of freedom ring!
Let the bell of freedom ring!
