::My Little Pony Information::
::Dream Beauties (Sho-Z)::

The My Little Pony Dream Beauties line were made by Hasbro in Year 8, 1989.  They are considered part of the My Little Pony line because they were packaged with the My Little Pony registered trademark on the box.  However, their body type is considerable different from the standard pony.  Each came boxed with a brush and barrette, and a few sets came with special accessories. If you are interested in the accessories that came with Dream Beauties, please Click here to view them mint in their original packages with an list of all accessories. Dream Beauties were advertised as being "All grown up My Little Ponies." They are adult plastic horses with various colors and each having the standard MLP symbols.

Basic Dream Beauty Stats:

They were released only in Year 8.
Collectors common abbreviation, DB.
There are six different sets, 18 ponies total.
The International versions were basically the same, I know of no known variants.
Two commercials were released regarding Dream Beauties, they pictured real horses in different pastel colors.
I list them as uncommon items, most more common versions run between $15.00-$35.00.
The most common confusion about the Beauties, probably the spelling of the actual names.

They came in three different poses:
Poses are similar and often hard to distinguish, hopefully this simplified explanation will help you.
1. Walking: Both front hooves are placed flat against the ground. Click here for an example.
2. Strutting: With her head and body facing right (like in the example photograph) her right front leg will be curved. Click here for an example.
3. Posing: With her head and body facing right (like in the example photograph) her left front leg will be curved. Click here for an example.

Fake Dream Beauties: When purchasing Dream Beauties for your collection, please take extreme care in your selection.  There are some very convincing replicas of Dream Beauties that differ only by the contour shape of the head, etc. Here are a few tips for telling the differences: Firstly, the most common obvious giveaway will be to look for the beads along the mane of your Dream Beauty, if the horse you have doesn't have them, it's most likely a fake. Other things to look for: they will have some type of symbol, will only come in the three poses above, will have the distinctive Dream Beauty eyes.

Showtime Beauties

Showtime Beauties are ponies that resemble carousel horses, much like the Merry go Round Ponies. There were only two in this particular set, which was the only set of Dream Beauties to only come with two. Each has an intricately designed saddle blanket.

Each came with a brush and an "I Luv U" barrette.

Circle Dancer is purple with aqua hair with pink beads along her hairline. She has a peach and aqua saddle with peach shells and hearts, blue bows, and green ribbons that decorate her body. She has pale mint green eyes and yellow eyeshadow.  She is in the posing style pose. A very special thanks to Carrie for use of this photograph.

Mayfair is pink with blue hair with pale purple beads. She has a purple and white saddle with purple roses with aqua stems across her body.  She has purple eyes and mint green eyeshadow. She is in a walking pose (both front hooves flat). I am still uncertain whether the actual spelling of her name should be May Fair or Mayfair.

Sweet Perfume Beauties

The Sweet Perfume Beauties have metallic medallions on both sides and a mane with a wide strip of differently colored hair in the middle."Swing open her shiny medallion to find fragrant cream perfume for you to wear!" As Hasbro advertised...they have a medallion on both hips, but only one opens to reveal cream perfume (a popular perfume of the 1980's). Medallions are prone to breaking and perfume is often gone from them today. Medallions came in various colors, which can often fade in color.

Fair Flier is pink with yellow legs. She has purple and green (originally) curly hair and her medallion is round and green with a bird symbol. She has purple beads, blue eyes, and yellow eye shadow.
A very special thanks to Lynn for use of this photograph.

Song Rider is blue with pink legs and her hair is pink and white striped, originally curly. Her medallion is a pink shooting star.  She has pink beads in her hairline, mint green eyes, and pink eye shadow.
A very special thanks to Joy for use of this photograph.

Colorglow is purple with aqua green legs. Her hair is mint green (or some might say aqua green) and the strip of the mane is pink (very prone to fading to white). Her medallion is a shaped like a heart with a lace-like pattern overlay.  She has mint green beads, pink eyes, and mint green eye shadow. She is in a walking pose (both front hooves flat).

Colormist is aqua with purple legs. She has pink and purple hair and her medallion is a round gold flower.  She has white beads, pink eyes, lavender eye shadow. Her hair is originally straight.

Trim 'n Grow Beauties

Trim 'n Grow Beauties were designed to have their hair cut and then replaced with new plugs of hair. Their bodies are pearlized and they each came with a pair of scissors. They came with scissors, brush, barrette, and lock of hair.

Spritzy is purple with an aqua mane (white beads) and her symbol is a bubbling bathtub. She came with pink and purple hair extensions. She has pink eyes and yellow eyeshadow. A very special thanks to Shelia for use of this photograph.

Mane Waves
is pink with a blue mane (mint green beads) and a her symbol is a dresser. She came with two hair extensions: pink and white. She has blue eyeshadow.

Sheertrimmer is periwinkle with a purple mane (white beads). Her symbol is pieces of jewelry as her symbol. She came with dark pink and aqua hair plugs and a purple bird, flower barrette. She is in a walking pose (both front hooves flat).
